Pastor Nancy L. Vidad was born in Manila, Philippines, but she moved to Chicago when she was 7 ½ years old. After graduating from Notre Dame High School for Girls in Chicago, she went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. From there, she received two master’s degrees. She has an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management and an MDiv from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Pastor Nancy was the Assistant Pastor of Epworth UMC in Elgin, Illinois for four years before coming to Dakota to become the pastor of our church in the summer of 2014.

In addition to her educational background, Pastor Nancy understands what it is like to care for a family in these modern times. Together with her husband of 23 years, Alvin, she has raised four wonderful children. Aaron, Bethany, and Caleb are all away at college while Deborah remains at home in her junior year of high school.

As pastor of Dakota UMC, Pastor Nancy has continued many of the programs that were already in place at the church, especially the After School Program. She added another program in 2015 called the Summer Fun Program, which offered a chance for area children to learn about career choices, life skills, and just plain fun. A prayer service takes place for adults on Wednesday mornings during the school year. Under her direction, steps have also been taken to make the whole church a more inclusive place for anyone wishing to attend, from parents of small children to the elderly and those with disabilities. It is very important to the pastor and all of the people within our church that God’s love shines through and makes everyone feel welcome and included.

Come check us out this Sunday. We’d love to have you!
